I have always loved to read and write, and my love of the written word is what led me to obtain both my BA and MA in British and American Literature. I had the opportunity to begin teaching at the College level when I was in my Master's program and continued teaching College Writing courses to Freshmen for two years after I graduated. After moving to Lincoln, Nebraska to begin work on my Ph.D. I started working at a Writing Center at a local Community College. My two years experience as a Writing Tutor has given me the wonderful opportunity to hone my skills as a tutor and teacher and to learn to help student's with varying needs; including, ESL, non-traditional adult students, and those with learning challenges.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a retired FBI Agent, with both a Bachelor of Science and a Juris Doctorate. As an Agent, I learned to speak fluent Russian and speak it to this day. Since retirement six years ago I have been tutoring and coaching my son, who is handicapped. He is highly intelligent but learns a little bit differently, so I have worked hard with him to teach him to read, learn math and grammar. He cannot write, so everything he learns is by memory. He is an excellent student and works hard. My work in the FBI has given me excellent writing skills, my grammar is next to perfect, and I read several books a week. I tutored many students in the FBI Academy and in Russian school, so I have experience in tutoring adults as well as children.

I worked with Special Ed kids with reading, writing, and math. I tutored my Sophomore, Junior, and Senior years of high school. I have most of my certifications in the medical field, but i also graduated High school a semester early and with enough credits to be a sophomore in college. I do prefer to work with elementary school kids, but would also work with middle school as well. I have been raised to know education is the most important thing in ones life. I believe that children are born smart. Some of them have special learning challenges and some have been taught to believe that they are not smart. By treating children as though they are intelligent and providing encouragement and learning opportunities, I have seen children grow and progress in almost astonishing ways. The sparkle in a child's eyes when they finally "get it" is the best paycheck.
After finishing my Masters Degree in Education I taught one year in a private school then opened my own business tutoring primarily homeschool students during the school year. The students I have worked with are primarily ages 11-18, but my experience with my own children includes the primary grades. I have tutored most subjects including reading, writing, science, history and math (through algebra).
