This provides the students with the opportunity to think about the problem on their own, to determine their own strategy. During the discussion, they also have the advantage of seeing other ways of approaching the problem. When the problem proves too challenging, I usually give them small step by step hints and direct them to the answer. I love helping people. I feel that a student can always teach a student better than a teacher. Their teaching style is a lot forgiving and the student is less intimidated knowing that someone else has been where he/she is currently. It also takes a great deal of patience to teach someone something and a forgiving nature. I excel at both of those.
