I firmly believe that to be an effective teacher you need to make the subject interesting to the students. While teaching I think it is very important to provide examples as to why the subject matter is necessary for the students to learn. My end all desire in teaching is for the students to walk out of my classroom knowing the importance of the topic they may be studying.

I have tutored/taught highly intelligent children and some resource students. Working as a substitute teacher, I developed many techniques and strategies to get children to understand. While working at a Youth Development Center, I engaged with teenage girls whom were not interested in learning, but I was able to gain their attention and get them involved in the learning process. The greatest benefit of teaching, to me, is seeing the look in a child's eyes when he or she finally reaches that understanding of what you are teaching them. The challenge of finding a new way to help a child reach this understanding is what drives me to teach.
