A Little Bit About Me...

I love to teach one-on-one or in small groups. The greatest moment for me, as a teacher, is what I call the “Aha!” that I see in a student’s eyes when he/she finally understands a troublesome concept. I believe that teaching is about empowering my students to take responsibility for their own learning. I want to help my students in clarifying their own values and provide the opportunity to explore and discover answers to the questions they create; I want my students to analyze, compare, and evaluate the answers they discover. Each of us has a different way of learning but the first step is to appeal to a student's natural inquisitiveness. If they can see real life applications for the skills they are learning they will become engaged and enthusiastic. I have and continue to use many of the skills I learnt in school and they have been instrumental in assisting me to find solutions to complex problems.
