A Little Bit About Me...

I have taught at the University level for the past six years but do feel I can teach science at any level and love working with children and young adults. I have a great deal of patience and love teaching using a practical examples approach to better relate the concepts being taught to something your student may better understand. I do strive to make a difference in all of my students' lives no matter the capacity in which I am instructing them.

For the past four summers I have worked in a childcare setting. Last summer I did an internship at a Headstart and the previous three summers I worked at a daycare. At both places I worked with children of all ages. In May of 2010 I graduated from UW Green Bay with a degree in Human Development and Psychology. I plan on getting certified in Child Life.
My favorite jobs that I have had dealt with working with children. I love working with children and making a difference in their lives. I don't have a wide teaching experience but I do enjoy working and helping Elementary or junior high leveled children. Ay my most recent job, I worked in a dept called 'PLAYLAND" where I was responsible for taking care and keeping the children of our customers entertained and busy as their parent's shopped for groceries. I have also assisted a choir class in high school for kids around my age at the time. I believe I am very good with children and I can show them much support and confidence in themselves with their struggle through their learning. I know I can be trusted and loyal to these students. I believe that applications to everyday life should be stressed if a tutor/teacher is to pique the interest of their student(s). Rather than stressing rote memorization, I believe it is more important to relate overall concepts in a "partnering" style. It is important to remember that one of the cornerstones of teaching is making the subject matter interesting and relevant to the student's experiences. I believe it is also important to focus on a student's strengths rather than their weaknesses. As in many areas of life, teaching also requires patience. From my experience, children benefit greatly from an easy-going approach where they are regarded as equals and treated with the utmost respect and dignity.
