My Physics class had the chance to work with machinery used in vocational careers. I also taught Teacher Cadets, a class for students interested in the field of Education. During the last six-weeks students completed a student teaching experience working with K-12 teachers. My physics students competed in several engineering contests, (paper airplane, egg drop, rubber band car, etc.) which provided several students scholarships. My biology class did soil testing for the local citizens. These are a couple of examples I utilize in my classroom. I want my students to understand the material, not just memorize it. I use an assortment of activities and hands-on techniques to achieve this objective.

Throughout the research, I gathered many skills one being creative in learning, as well as, presenting new material and teaching it to fellow peers and professors. I have also worked as a teacher’s assistant, running a chemistry lab of about - five students.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love biology. You will too. My students will become experts in their fields, but they are not there yet. It is not my style to throw them in the deep end and hope they can hear me yelling commands. It is my style to jump in and swim with them until they take off on their own. It is my desire to teach because it is here that I can know my students and personally be a part of their success. Since my graduation from Southeaster Oklahoma State University I substituted on all grade levels from pre-k to 12th grade for 2 years. I long-term substituted first grade from January to May of 2008 and 5th grade from April to May of 2007. I also taught 5th grade Science for the school year of 2008-2009. Substituting has enabled me to see the different learning styles and behaviors of many different types of children. I use this knowledge whenever stepping into unfamiliar classes and use it to my advantage.
