Mike's Guitar Studio is based on the belief that the students needs are of the utmost importance. The Studio is committed to meeting those needs. As a result, a high percentage of our business is from repeat customers and referrals. Lessons are catered towards what the student wants to learn. There is no one method that works for each student. My comments on tutoring Guitar : I have 20 years experience working with students from beginner to advanced. Adult students are welcome.

I have about 20 years of one-on-one teaching experience working with all types of aspiring guitarists. I have been playing for 30 years, and have performed close to one thousand times in various small jazz groups, both as a leader and a sideman. I have also sustained original rock projects and played in large ensembles. I have produced large scale concert events and handled the booking for several music venues.
I make sure each student receives a real music education and becomes comfortable with a music theory foundation, I expose all students to reading and encourage them to become good readers, which will set them apart from many guitar players out there. A good portion of the lessons focus on repertoire, with the student choosing the majority of the material.

A Little Bit About Me...

I prefer to teach towards the student, meaning working not only on the students strengths but also their weakness. By doing so, the student will be able to play at their highest level. Specifically, teaching the guitar is much more abstract than learning Math or English. The guitar takes coordination, hearing, and soul to learn. I plan on teaching every student not to just play songs but how to truly play the guitar.
I have now been playing the guitar for roughly eight years. Performing at school concerts to charity events and now playing gigs at local clubs and restaurants, I am venturing off towards the directions of teaching the instruments to willing students. I have been teaching students from the age of 14-17 for the past year as some of them have began their own bands and playing at concerts.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have been playing music my whole life. I began playing piano at six years old, saxophone at ten, bass guitar at thirteen, and guitar at fourteen. Throughout my high school career I played a variety of rock band gigs on guitar, bass, and keyboards; I also played a variety of jazz gigs on saxophone. Currently I am a music student at William Paterson University, and am graduating this May with a degree in Jazz Saxophone Performance.
My teaching style varies from student to student based on playing level, musical interests, and personality. I use a mix of method books and aural learning techniques. The student's musical priorities always come first!

I really enjoy teaching students how to play the bass. It's a thrill when they have that "Aha" moment and what I'm trying to show them simply clicks.
