You can do anything you set your mind to!

I have tutored kids at my Church whenever someone has needed help. I am very patient and understanding of how frustrating certain topics can be, so I know I am a great candidate for tutoring. I am exceptionally great with younger kids who have ADD or ADHD since I have struggled with that myself. I worked in the public school system for about 11 years teaching grades 8,4, and 5. I worked in private schools for about 4 years teaching 7th and 8th grades. I did private tutoring for 1 year. I have tutored English 101 at the college level. I am currently in a Graduate Program.

I am an active teacher, especially when allowed to create my own curriculum. I love to incorporate lectures with powerpoints, videos with discussions, and book readings with field trips. I think the best way to get young people involved in learning is to keep their minds thinking and never reach the point of predictability. The last thing people accuse me of is monotony or predictability, and it is this very quality that keeps then engaged and makes me a very likable and successful educator.
I received a bachelors degree in both history and sociology which gave me the credentials to teach Sociology 101 classes at the college level while attaining my masters degree, which I then used to teach as an instructor for nine months at two separate colleges. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style follows one important rule: NEVER become so concerned with following my lesson plans to the letter that I miss what is truly important: teaching moments. A teacher has to learn to listen to his or her class and realize when the moment to abandon the lesson plan has come. This willingness to release some control over the class and allow it to develop more or less organically does not always come easily, however. Goal-induced anxiety can make a teacher reluctant to let go of the reins out of fear that the class will go off in some random direction.
