Having graduated from a Masters in the Arts of Teaching (Adolescent Science - Physics) program in the summer of 2009, I am not only well versed in the structure of New York State Regents Exams but am also up to date with many modern teaching and assessment techniques. I have had two student teaching placements, a year and a half of substitute teaching, and numerous experiences tutoring math and science to individuals and groups both professionally and as a volunteer since 2003. I am interested in tutoring because I love teaching regardless of the subject matter. I’ve been lucky enough to be given the opportunity to try several different content areas such as Special Education 7th grade Science in a Push-In model, ESOL, Home and Careers, Career and Financial Management as well as substitute teaching in many areas K-12, in addition to teaching technology in multiple districts. Coming from a large family and having a large family myself, I have always been around children of all ages and enjoyed working with kids to develop themselves and prepare them for a meaningful place in our society. I am very patient with children and will use different approaches to teach. I try very hard to install a love of learning and work hard to encourage a curiousity of any subject that interests them. As a student at Corning Community College, I was a tutor in the Math Learning Center. Of the two years I attended Corning, I worked in the MLC for one and a half of those years. As a tutor, I helped other students with subjects including: Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Trigonometry, Statistics, Applied Calculus, Calculus, and Calculus II. As a result of my tutoring style, I had several students return for additional assistance. As a result of being a tutor from Corning, I had the opportunity to work with a wide range of students.
