I worked for over 2 years as a study session leader for various engineering courses while getting my B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. As a recent college graduate, I was motivated to study Physics because I find the fundamental nature of the physical world fascinating. In addition to my B.S. in Physics, I also minored in Religious Studies and this course of study has enabled me to understand and communicate with people from a variety of different backgrounds. When I wasn’t in class I spent nearly 3 years doing particle physics research for CERN’s Large Hadron Collider, which I would work at in Geneva Switzerland during the summer. My teaching style varies depending on the student. Perhaps my biggest asset is empathy as I can easily tell when a student (or group) gets it. Thus, I do not waste time telling students what they already know, and I can back up and explain in more detail when necessary. I have a kind of fluency in math, science, and language such that I pride myself on being able to explain any topic to any person. I have taught Medical Neuroanatomy to medical students at the University of Iowa Medical School. Students were directed in dissecting and identifying parts of the human brain.
