Three teachers impacted my life not only as a result of the content of their classes but in their delivery. All three approached learning as an adventure. Even though the topics ranged from sixth grade mathematics to fluid dynamics each teacher keyed their presentation on the reception of the students. If the first presentation didn’t get the topic across an alternative presentation was made, often in a humorous vein. Students were never allowed to feel inadequate. Many of the students I trained were sent by their employers. So often, the student’s frame of mind wasn’t the most open to the learning experience. I finally realized that teaching was my one true talent. I have always enjoyed providing people with new ways to think about whatever it is that they're learning. I took great care when teaching languages to convey the importance and relevance of diversity. I gave my students necessary references to their own lives and made an effort to pull their own experiences into their learning.
