I am currently enrolled at Stephen F. Austin State University as a Deaf Education major. I have one year left of school, which will consist of two semesters of student teaching in the area of my choice. I have already completed more than 100 hours of observation, volunteering, and instruction in the public school system. I have a specialization in American History and Mathematics. I have also completed four semesters of American Sign Language courses and an interpreting course. I have several years experience in tutoring and grading at the college level in the areas of history, mathematics, and American Sign Language. My comments on tutoring Study Skills : Tutor Certification. Research project for certification included study of developmental learning strategies.

Experience includes teaching in public and private schools prior to and following tutor certification. Research for Tutor Certification focused on the study and analysis of adult learning problems stemming from poor learning and education experienced of youth. The study included exchanging past negative experiences for positive ones which substantially increases current abilities and progress. College Algebra students were in the study. While my credentials include college level learning, my experience is not exclusive to that level. My experience also included learning reading, reading comprehension, mathematics for preschool, K-12 grades as well.

A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy teaching children. I normally have a very relaxed style, but I emphasize setting goals and completing the task at hand. I gain a great deal of personal satisfaction in helping others learn. A Little Bit About Me...

As a late bloomer to my education, I understand the importance of completeing an education at the earliest time. I currently hold a BS degree in business with an emphasis on international markets. I think it takes a lot for one teacher to reach all of types of students who are all at different levels of interest in the subject being taught as well as at different levels of understanding. However, I feel it is the teacher's responsibility to give them all equal opportunity to learn. It is not just about grades and assignments, that is just the means to an end, but it is about learning.
