What strikes me most as I look back at my education is how much of an impact a teacher can have when they make their subject relevant to their students. When I am teaching I try to find out what motivates each student as a person, in addition to what is motivating them to take the class. Growing up bilingual, I was always fascinated by language and grammar. After being admitted into a highly selectively liberal arts college, I dedicated myself to the study of French, Spanish and English literature, graduating with several honors.
