A Little Bit About Me...

I'm not going to lie; I hated school when I was younger. Some people might think this a drawback when hiring someone as a tutor, but I think it has made me more sympathetic to students who struggle, who don't enjoy school and who need someone to give them a reason to excel. I also can inspire students who are modivated and open up new worlds to them and make learning fun. I love reading and writing, history and theatre, art and science and everything else in between. The world is open and bright for everyone, especially those who wish to learn.

I have earned a Bachelor’s degree in Multidisciplinary studies focusing on English as well as Communication. I am in the process of gaining my certification in Special Education and English while going to school to gain my Masters Degree in Special Education with a focus in Learning Disabilities. I have completed nine hours of Masters classes and have maintained an A average. I have also finished my internship with a kindergarten autistic class giving me hands on experience with general and special education classes. My teaching style is very flexible. Because I have worked with children, teenagers, and adults, the ability to adapt to the learner's ability level is especially important. Not all people learn at the exact pact, therefore, flexibility is essential as well as non traditional teaching methods. Some non traditional teaching methods I have applied include interpreting math problems through real life situations. I find that some kids will relate to NBA references while others prefer food examples. Either way, it keeps the child interested which is the key role of a good tutor.

Grammar, writing, composition writing, essays, grant writing, are all skills that I excel in. More importantly than any of that is that I enjoy writing and and enjoy reading books on grammar.
I have tutored friend's children over the course of several years. I have taught religious studies for over 15 years to youth ages 14. I have worked extensively with children in my various lines of work in the mental health field and foster care.
