As an Undergraduate student, I was engaged in a variety of eduactional settings from Substitute Teaching and working with students with disabilities to tutoring Kindergarteners in an Elementary school with reading, writing, and math. I have earned a bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders, a degree that has afforded me the opportuity to learn much about communication and literacy, but also much about the educational system. My goal as a teacher is to help children appreciate learning and have fun while doing. I have had much experience working with children of all ages in the Education Field as a Primary Teacher for Head Start and CIS after school program. What I have learned working with students is that many do not learn in the same manner. I beleive in what is called top process learning. Given the student a concept and allowing them to explore the possibilities of how one arrives at such a concept has allowed deeper critical thinking and strategic planning. However, this method is not predominately taught in Georgia education system. I have found this method to be very effective. The other method is patience. Students who strugge with their academic learning usually are having other areas of difficulty which may be social learning. Having clinical training allows me to make a more accurate assessment.
