My comments on tutoring Elementary Vocabulary : I have been a certified Reading Teacher for over 11 years. I am also currently earning my level 1 certification in the Wilson Reading System. This is a systematic research based system to help students who struggle with phonics and phonemic awareness. I also use multiple representations and word mapping and this helps students retain the meaning of words.

For the past two years, I have been a private tutor for elementary children. Finally, for ten years, I professionally tutored my sister in language. I can assist your child in his or her vocabulary skills. First of all, a dictionary is required. We will work together and read respectable grade level books. The student will have " weekly word list". The word list will consist of words their school requires them to know or age-appropriate words be given. These words would need to be placed in alphabetical order, sentences, crossword puzzles, and much more. These exercises will provide the child confidence in themselves when book reports are given and etc.

I am a very friendly and patient individual. Since I specialize in tutoring elementary children to adults,I understand I am going to have different methods of teaching. For all my students, I try to find out what their weakness and strengths are. I attempt to have them notice it as well; that way we can work together as a team. For children, I always have some type of reward or goal for them to strive for.
