While I was going to Butler County Community College I peer tutored students in both mathematics thru calculus II and english composition I and II. My trigonometry teacher had me substitute teach his college algebra and trigonometry courses for him while he away. This was some of the most satisfying work I have ever done. When a student finally understood what I was explaining it was like you could see the light come on in their head. Not only did I help the student learn the topic but it made me feel good because I had helped them.
Teaching is one of the most satisfying things I have ever done. I believe that everybody can learn, you just have to find the right teaching method for that individual. I began tutoring in high school then in college, I majored in mathematics to pursue a career in teaching. My career took another direction yet I continued my passion for teaching others through tutoring at local non-profits. Last year, I taught 8th grade math at a local public middle school. This past summer, I taught summer school to 3-5th graders in both math and English. This year, I continue teaching through tutoring at an elementary school.
