Accounting and Finance often blend the theoretical and concrete. I strive to teach theories and concepts through fun activities and games in order to make learning fun and as stress free as possible. To fully grasp the numerical applications of accounting and finance the answer is deceptively simple: practice, practice, practice. Repetitive usage of math problems allows students multiple opportunities to increase their understanding of material. My education and experience has led me all over the world providing companies with my skills as an analyst and consultant. After earning my BAs in English and History, I wanted to explore the world. I taught English in Korea, Italy, and finally China. I taught in several settings including classroom, individual tutoring, business meetings, and summer camp. My undergraduate education was focused in English and History. I am currently earning my masters degree in Business Administration.
I adapt to the student. In my experience with several students is that they all need a different approach. I like to use examples to explain things to my students for example a video game or sports. I am a patient teacher but demand all of a student's attention.

My style is relaxed, but focused, with a touch of humor to ease nerves. The first step is creating comfort and trust between the student and the tutor. To do this, when coaching Chemistry, I would have the student present a problem. Then, I'd say, well, let's figure this out together. And, truly, that is what we would do, step by step, by asking questions. What do we know? What do we need to figure out? Essentially showing them the thought process out loud, and involving them in obtaining the solution. This approach helps develop confidence. Repeating creates familiarity. Eventually, most students become confident enough to try one on their own, and my role becomes encourager, light-hearted and sincere.

As a graduate of a 'Public Ivy' institution, I have had a very well-rounded and intensive education. I earned two degrees from IU: a BA in Spanish and a BS in Biology and Chemistry. My experience involves subjects such as: Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemistry (General and Organic), Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and Physics. I obtained my undergraduate degree from Indiana University in 1997 with majors in Accounting and Finance. In addition, I obtained minors in History and Economics. In 2002, I obtained my CPA license.
