My comments on tutoring ACT : I have personally took the ACT and did very well on it. More recently I have assisted in ACT preparation.

Lead the student to find the right answer himself or herself if possible.
I have done private tutoring of high school students in math from pre-algebra to calculus and in other subjects. I have also home schooled adopted daughters from lower grades to high school level, including teaching English as a second language. In graduate school I was a teaching assistant in an electric machinery laboratory for non-electrical engineering majors. My own experience with standardized tests includes having taken the ACT in 1971 with scores ranging from 22 (76th percentile) in English to 31 (97th percentile) in math with a composite of 27 (93rd percentile) and having passed the GRE in 1975. I've worked with children for the past 20 years and know the importance of helping children develop a positive attitude towards learning! Chances are if a student is having difficulty achieving academic goals, then they probably don't enjoy that subject and naturally resist that, which they need most. There are ways to develop a child's self esteem so they want and even enjoy learning!
I am a seasoned professional Tutor for the past 5 years; all subjects all grades. I have a BS from Florida International University and MS from Nova University (all coursework completed earning all A's).
