I have been learning everyday of my life, because there is always something new to learn. Life teaches many lessons but what I have come to learn is that education is very valuable. I want to give back to the community by helping others learn of all opportunities that a good education can bring them. I believe that students learn at their own individual pace, and as the teacher I need to accomodate this while encouragin progress. My studies in psychology taught me the importance of positive reinforcement and constructive communication to the learning process. My experience and educational accomplishments enable me to be an effective teacher. This recent accomplishment gives me the ability to teach in an academic environment and also to apply my recent experience in test taking techniques. I have been very active volunteering in the public schools. My children’s state testing scores are in the top 1% and 4% in the nation for reading and math. I achieved an English degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where my senior thesis was selected as a finalist for the UW Creative Writing prize. I am passionate about the English language, but I think that writing is becoming a lost art. Quality writers are quality communicators. As writing in general falls into disrepair, those who can write clearly and read critically will have an edge in every institution they enter--from the University, all the way to the workplace.
