Although I feel lecture, guided instruction and practice are a very important part of teaching mathemeatics, it is usually not enough as abstract ideas have difficulting finding relavence with most students. I rely heavily on my past experiences in my engineering career to draw real world examples to bridge this relevence gap. I would describe myself as a very patient and understanding person. I always make sure that the student understand the concept and is comfortable with the explanations given to him/her before continuing with the problem. Being successful in tutoring, is realizing that the student is able to complete a problem on his/her own without my help.
I earned two bachelors degrees from LSU: one in Mathematics and one in Computer Sciences. But I would be more interested in tutoring FRENCH.
