Experienced Reading Specialist

I am a dedicated and experienced teacher in both ELA and Reading having taught for fifteen years in Vermont and New York State. I am looking to help students achieve their full potential in reading and writing. My family recently relocated to Waynesboro, PA for my husband's job and I miss teaching.

As a holder of a Bachelor's in Social Work, I have a great deal of experience mentoring and tutoring students of various ages and abilities. I have worked with adult learners and high school age students with disabilities. I have a strong background in English and Grammar due to an extensive amount of college level paper writing. I maintained a 3.8 GPA throughout my college years. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching philosophy is that, as educators, we must "teach the whole person". Even though I am a language arts teacher, I try to instill goals and values into my students by completing a variety of acitivities. I love hands-on teaching and allowing my students to have fun while learning. Being a visual learner myself, it's extremely important to utilize the technology that is all around us that our students love so much.
Because of my love for literature, I decided to engage in the teaching profession. I earned my BA at Salisbury University and immediately was offered a job teaching high school English. While teaching, my love for reading and writing continued to grow and influced me to pursue a masters degree in Reading Specialization. I currently teach 6th grade language arts and am spreading my love of reading, writing, and grammar to each class that I teach.
