When I teach, I am patient, positive, and encouraging. Learning is of utmost importance to me, and I will try different teaching techniques until I know a student has successfully grasped the concept being taught. I work hard to instill self-confidence in all my students because I believe every one of them has the ability to learn. I try to make learning fun, and I want to make sure the students understand why the subject is important and how it is relevant in their life now and in the future. I love teaching and interacting with today's young kids. They fascinate me. Every child has different learning systems and sometimes it takes several tries to reach that special spot that opens the child's eyes to what excites them about learning. The thrill that I feel when that point is found and theirs, (And my, excitement,)grows. There is no feeling in the world like that!
When I substitute for a teacher, I want to see a lesson plan. I do not want to be the classroom babysitter. If there is no plan for the day I involve the students in making one. I'm currently working on obtaining my teaching certificate, to go along with my bachelors degree in Social Science. Hopefully, I will be able to go on to receive my Masters in Education. I have been able to tutor students in reading, sentence structure, English and American history.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am not overbearing. I am laid back, but at the same time, I make sure that the student learns what he/she needs to learn. I am very patient. I try to respect the student and not make learning seem like a chore. Building a foundation of learning skills, even during a short tudoring session can really change a student's approach in all of their classes.
I have taken education classes at Northern Kentucky University. At one point, I was considering on being a Art Teacher. I didn't finish with that path, but I did gain much experience with children and knowledge during that time in working with students. I have worked and studied special needs children as well. I still consider going back for a Master's at some point in education. I think this job would be beneficial in my goals, and for my students, and a great learning experience for us both.

A Little Bit About Me...

I do understand that all children learn at different levels and in many different ways. I will help each child achieve at a high level just as I do in my classroom everyday. I make sure that I keep learning activities as lively and exciting as possible in order to make the most out of the educational time that is spent with me.
After graduating with a degree in elementary education from Goshen College, I have gained many valuable experiences in the educational field. I have worked for two years in the elementary level at the first and second grades.
