After graduating from high school in 2003, I began to work as a substitute teacher in 2004 for Sheridan School District. I continued working for Sheridan School District as a substitute teacher until around 2008, when I was about to graduate from college. From the fall of 2003 until the end of the summer in 2006 I attended Arkansas State University, where I won first place in the 2003 Freshman Writing Competition. I transferred to Henderson State University in 2006 to finish my education. I graduated from Henderson State University with my Bachelors Degree in English in December of 2008. After I graduated high school I went to a community college just to get the feel of college. I decided to major in speech because I was interested in correct speech. Not only how words were pronounced but also what mechanisms that are used to produce correct speech. I went on to Delta State University to pursue my Bachelor's in Speech and Hearing, and might I add they had a spectacular program. I learned a lot more than what makes a person have a speech disorder. I tutored at the local elementary school for two summers straigth and absolutely loved it. Children are a joy to work with becuase they are eager to learn. I feel that if you make it interesting for a child then their learning experience becomes something that they won't forget.
