Chess is one of my top subjects! I can play chess, Chinese chess and Weiqi (Go) (a Chinese traditional chess with more than 1,000 years history).

A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked with students of all ages. I have taught elementary all the way to college level students. I have taught basic math,algebra, trigonometry, pre-calculus, calculus and SAT math. I graduated from electrical engineering school. I understand what it takes to bring students up to speed. Over the years I have learned that students did not understand the subject because they did not master the basics. My first visit is just an assessment of where the student began to get lost regardless of the age or level. More often that not, they have to memorize their fractions to decimal to percentage conversion from 1/2 to 1/12. Given this underlying knowledge allows me to focus on the subject at hand. I usually recommend purchasing a Spark Notes or something similar for the subject as a reference guide. I use examples from the book to review, and assist in homework. I do not do the homework for them, however, do ask how they will approach it before diving in. I add tips and tricks and different ways to approaching the problem. I also assist in anxiety control, study and organization habits.

Math seems like it is filled with "tricks" that seem impossible to know unless you were born with some innate gift.
