Special Education is one of my top subjects! I have been a Special Education Teacher for 4 years at the pre-k level working with students 3-5 years old with various disabilities.

For the last 4 years I have taught Special Education at the pre-k level. My classes consist of students with disabilities, as well as students without disabilities. Over the last four years I have had the opportunity to work with students with various disabilities including: Autism, Traumatic brain injuries, ADD and ADHD, Down Syndrome and learning disabilities.

LESSONS SHOULD ACCOMMODATE STUDENT LEARNING STYLES

My belief is that all students have different learning styles. Therefore lessons need to be individualized to meet student needs. In order to be successful students need to be engaged by creative teachers. My teaching experience has taught me to accommodate these needs when developing lesson plans.
I have 15 years of teaching experience with special needs students in a rural school district. During this time i provided private tutoring sessions for Elementary, Middle, High School and College students. Individualization is an important part of my teaching style. I think it is important to identify what the student needs to work on and present it in a way the student can grasp the concept and enjoy learning. The student has to enjoy learning to succeed. I try to present material in such a way that the student will find it interesting and use different techniques to help them remember what they have learned.
