After understanding a student's level and what their interests with guitar are, we pick out suitable music to use for lessons, as the student progresses. After a student gains a good understanding of playing a song, I like to go over various ways of playing the song to explore other kinds of expression through the guitar. With this approach, my students may learn to bring logic (technique, scales, theory) and feeling (how music is played) together. I go over beginning lead guitar with students. My students begin by exploring the use of the major and minor scale using one position, then we explore alternate positions, then we combine them. After a student obtains a good understanding of the above, we explore the use of other scales through the same process. I have had much teaching experience as well, a couple years ago I was teaching at the local middle school, and have instructed many other musicians as well. Teaching is my passion and I will do whatever is in my power to help my students achieve all of their goals, and reach their greatest potential! I teach acoustic, electric, and bass guitar. I design the lesson to the learning preference of the student. I incorporate technology, visual, tactile and kinesthetic teaching styles. This gives the student the maximum opportunity to learn. If a student is having trouble with reading comprehension there are various skill sets a child learns in order to help with standardized tests. I have experience in that area. An understanding of literary elements can also enhance a child's understanding of literature and reading. The ultimate goal is for the child to be able to read for gaining information, but also understanding of the world and experiences around them and from other people.
