My success in tutoring was more visible to me at ITT in the period between 1995 to 2006. My second career choice was education, but I went with accounting instead. I have always found good luck with explaining how to do something by using examples. As I continue further in my career, this comes easier and easier. Problem solving techniques are an important tool to teach as these skills help children methodically figure answers out.
My volunteering began in 1993 when I was an officer at the Indiana University Bloomington chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, the honorary accounting society. I began homeschooling my children in 1993. My older son was in 8th grade, my younger son was in 4th grade, my oldest daughter was in Kindergarten, and my twin daughters were 2 years old.
