A Little Bit About Me...

I like to teach students not only the material but also how to study in general. I am sure learning how to study will help students throughout their lives.
I am a current international (korean), sophomore Economics major student at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. I have taught students since I was in high school. I have several tutoring experiences from volunteering at Churches in the DC metropolitan area to private 1 on 1 tutoring. I enjoy teaching a lot, and I really love it when students come to me with happy faces after doing well on their tests. I am able to teach different subjects, but my strongest area is math, especially algebra. I also like to teach English (2310 on SAT - 730 Reading, 780 Writing, 800 Math). More About This Tutor...

I have been tutoring non-stop since I was an undergraduate student myself, and even had the opportunity to TA at St. Lawrence University. I have since used my translation skills in business, taught two years of advanced Spanish language courses at the University of Virginia, and two years of all levels of Spanish at St. Anne's-Belfield School. I love teaching full-time, but nothing compares to the one-on-one interaction and first row seat to the "aha!" moments that I enjoy as a tutor. Through teaching Spanish, I have come to learn that most of my students were never property taught English grammar and struggle with general writing skills, so I am also happy to tutor in those areas as well.

My style is to adapt to the skill level and interests of the student and to work toward their own goals, whether these are to write a personal essay for college, to learn to write better generally, or to develop better overall English skills so they can move on to the next grade in school.
I have 30 years journalism and communications experience and completed all course work for M.A. in journalism. I am the author or co-author of 14 books and hundreds of articles. I made a living as freelance writer for 15 years and had writing jobs on staff for about 15 years.
