I have been involved with youth since completing Bible College in 1978. I have two grown children who both completed college (my daughter cum laud in chem; University of Kentucky). I also have two step children; ages 12 and 10. I have been a qualified substitute teacher for the last 4 years, so have a working knowledge of state standards for all subjects; especially math.
My "ace in the hole" in teaching is the fact that I care for students and they know it. I do make it well known that I am there to teach; not be their friend (or their parent!). I typically set the limits, introduce the lesson, focus on learning the content, and be attentive to individual needs. Assessment is done through answering and asking questions. A Little Bit About Me...

As an Education Director at a Boys & Girls Club, I taught in the non-traditional sense, through after school literature-enhancing programming of various kinds. I instructed K-12 students, and even parents and staff, on many different levels of achievement and ability, so I am very acquainted with diverse populations and accomodating their educational needs through creative tools and approaches.
Since my years as an undergraduate student, one of my passions has always been giving back to the community through tutoring and mentoring. Over the past eleven years, I have tutored countless times, particularly in research paper and essay writing (in various disciplines), literature, and even mathematics. I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Education and seek to continue giving back in this way!
