This is one of my top subjects! Piano is one of my top subjects!I've been playing piano for almost 12 years, taking lessons for about 10 years. I've taught a few students in my lifetime--with different level ranges (from beginner to more advanced levels). Back when I was still competing, I've only played 1st and 2nd in all my competitions, nothing less. A few years back, I outgrew all my competitors in my level and was not allowed to compete anymore, so I became one of the judges in the competition. I am a patient tutor, and all my piano students have shown positive and obvious results. As a tutor, I make sure my students master certain aspects of piano before moving on, but at the same time, be able to have fun and play whatever they like. My tutoring methods change per student because everyone has a different way of learning how to play piano and require different methods of being taught. While many tutors and teachers just teach to earn money, I just want to work with students and help them excel in piano. I'm willing to go the extra mile for my students, and I will make sure they succeed and be a substantially better piano player than they were before.

Statement of Teaching Style I feel that all learners should have access to the highest quality education possible. The object of education is to provide each student with the tools that will help them develop their individual talents. All students should be given an opportunity in a safe educational setting to demonstrate their talents. This opportunity also means giving every student a chance to show their full potential. Instructors must have a pleasant and enthusiastic attitude. Instructors must be accepting of all students regardless of ethnic background or other personal factors. An instructor should use a variety of instructional methods and delivery techniques to facilitate the learning process. I am an experienced Educator at both the secondary and post secondary levels. While teaching at Puyallup High School I received two awards for excellence for my work with special n

As a former military child, I have learned to adapt very quickly to any situation and believe every experience is a learning one. I have worked with both military and non-military with my duties in some jobs included helping people with software and computer skills. My undergraduate degree in Mass Communications strengthened my ability to communicate effectively and sparked further interest in education. Since my graduation in 2003, I've completed over 60 units of college classes. I am currently working on a second degree, in Nursing. Exposure to the sciences and many other classes that require extensive reading, critical thinking, communication through discussions and writing papers has prepared me for a tutoring position such as this. I am a believer of diversity. I don't believe that learning is "One size fits all". I am aware that children come from a variety of backgrounds and th

I love art and feel very strongly that it should be a very important part of everyone's education. Students are anxious to actively participate. I do a demonstration while I lecture on a particular point, i.e., perspective, form, light, color theory, etc., then let them have time to execute a given assignment in class. At this point I give them personal attention. I have a "critque" at the end of the session and have them participate. I require constructive comments so as not to discourage anyone and to promote the notion that everyone has a unique and valuable point of view . Homework is assigned and I ask students to keep a sketchbook, which should be drawn in daily. I ask to see these ungraded books intermittently throughout the course. I have many years experience as an illustrator and graphic designer, with large and small advertising agencies in Los Angeles. I have taught sculpture
