For 34 years I have taught almost every science, but my focus for the last 28 years has been chemistry - both high school and college courses. Since 1993 I have served as an AP Reader and a College Board Consultant, grading the AP Chemistry Exams and teaching teachers how to establish their AP program. Over 94% of my AP students have earned a "3" or better, with over 50% scoring a "5". I have six children of my own and know that every child learns differently, even when they come from the same family. I believe the majority of children can master the material they are presented in school, but it is a matter of time. Many children take a little more time to understand the concepts and master the skills needed to move on to the next level. Sadly many of these children aren't given the time to do it and are just passed on to the next level.
