Creating Confident Students via Creative Learning

I like to use hands on and/or creative teaching methods when possible. I believe that practice and persistence makes perfect. I would say that my teaching style is "outside of the box". I use this effective method when possible, due to the fact that typically students have tried more standardized methods and have not been able to learn from them; therefore they seek tutoring.
I have assisted students with tutoring for most of my life. My mother has worked as a teacher since I was born. I have a broad spectrum in technical and creative skills when working with students. I worked as the Geology Tutor at UNC Asheville. I have worked as a tutor for K-5 students at Hall Fletcher Elementary School (also in Asheville, NC). I have also volunteered throughout my life, helping and tutoring students of all ages throughout my educational and professional career.

My teaching style is based on reading then reviewing. At that point in time ask questions to see if the student has grasped the information being given. If not, answer questions then clarify. When reviewing information it is important to make sure the student knows reasoning behind subject matter so that they are understanding logic and not just memorizing information. In subjects that invloves math such as probability, chemistry, or statistics, I would do a few examples followed by letting the tutee working a few problems.
I have tutored fellow classmates in the past throughtout middle school and high school.
