Teaching Style- That is an interesting question- since there are so many schools with so many different teaching methods I would like to see how the student was shown the particular method for "attack". It would also be helpful to compare that to the textbook directions; from there I will be able to develop a plan based on the topic and the individual student. I have had to recreate lessons for my son for years in order to develop a style that he understands. The student may have an idea for creatively learning this topic- I am always open to suggestions.
It wasn't until I completed my B.S. degree and had a child of my own to fully understand the importance of an education. My son was diagnosed with Autism, this diagnosis woke in me a new desire to learn. I went on to complete my Masters Degree while working on my son's social, language and educational development. I became ... read more

I used all learning styles. I taught and they wrote. We had group assignments and presentations. All students increased their English scores. They all succeeded in their learning. I loved teaching and made sure that they all had a wonderful learning experience. I worked hard to make sure everyone learned their curriculum. It would be a great joy to be part of a school system again.
When I did my first student teaching in the 4th grade I succeeded in teaching the children all subjects. I also taught one Spanish girl how to read English and learn her math. To teach is to tie refinement of respect, unity of thoughts, sentimental attachment and truth by trusting each and every approach for coaching and highlighting the innovative ideas and inventions of students by your own creative and thought-provoking guidelines. I feel that students should be involved with their positive learning environment. In the classroom itself, the teacher needs to make the best utilization of the time allowed and must transmit the lesson to the students in the most palatable way. I want to teach and train the students. I would like to built in them the character which enables them to run the country progressively.

More About This Tutor...

My goal is to help your child achieve success. I explain real-life applications of the subject (i.e., metric system--repair of foreign cars.) I encourage questions and dialogue. I use praise when warranted but am firm on deadlines and honesty. Aware of attention span, I take appropriate breaks or switch to another subject. I remind him to read and follow directions and to check his work over before he hands it in. I believe that in this fast-paced technical age your child needs the best chance possible to compete successfully. I have found that even with one exposure, a good educator can have a huge positive impact upon a student's confidence and comprehension. It is very gratifying to both student and teacher when this occurs.

I personally can say that I have learned the most & can recall the most from those teachers that I consider my favorites. I believe it is because they knew how to inspire and motivate me to achieve what I thought I couldn’t or didn’t want to do. Those early experience is the inspiration behind the way I teach/tutor and write. I once heard it stated that ‘no one cares how much you know until they know how much you care’. I truly believe that you have to have a genuine interest in the individuals you are trying to inspire in order to make learning a possibility, especially in young children & adolescents. I also believe that in order to make a difference & be a positive influence; you really have to enjoy & have a passion for what you do

A Little Bit About Me...

I went from the Boston Public Schools to Commonwealth School and then Wellesley College, and would have been lost, early on, without help from tutors. I majored in English and Russian and work with several communities for whom English is not their first language. I am also a freelance writer and editor and I help my children's friends with their college essays. I work as a substitute teacher with all levels and grades and teach everything but Science and Gym.
I am patient and approachable but insist on the value of completing assignments even if the student "hates" them. I am good at explaining how this will be important later, which turns around reluctant learners. I believe in explaining, showing, modelling, and then stepping back while the student tries, explains, and determines where the mistakes come up. I value resiliance, and bask in the joy of competence achieved through ef ... read more
