I have a natural affinity for teaching. Although I have "formally" taught for the last 3 years; I have volunteered in various capacities teaching young and mature alike. I find innovative ways for my students to learn and my passion and enthuiasm for learning is contagious. A Little Bit About Me...

I am not a teacher however, I do have 3 children ages 10, 11 and 12. They are very smart and all have been on the Principals list for the past 3 years. I'm patient, kind and understanding that children often times get frustrated. I take education very seriously and I want everyone to succeed. My teaching style is tailored to the individual. The first thing I do when I'm trying to teach someone something is determine their learning style. If they don't know it I help them figure it out. I do find that most people learn best by diving in and doing it themselves first, while I serve as a "safety net". Whenever I was teaching new helmsmen or junior officers how to steer survey lines, I would direct them how to do it the first few times, and then when they felt ready to try it themselves, I stood back and let them, not stepping in until the absolute last second. Letting them make and try to correct their own mistakes seemed to be the best teaching tool I had.
