A Little Bit About Me...

I know the value of a tutor in a young person’s life. As a child I struggled in math, but working with a tutor I overcame my difficulties in this area and eventually went on to complete calculus level two and even become the math club president in high school. I have earned two degrees, a Masters in Business and a BS in Finance which have allowed me to gain extensive skills in math, statistical analysis, finance and writing. While in high school, I discovered my love for math and began tutoring classmates in that area. My interest in writing developed during my educational career at The University of Tulsa, where I had courses in advanced exposition and argumentation and writing for the professions along with literature classes in the areas of Russian and British Literature of the 18th Century, Eastern Literature, and Greek Literature. Every student has a unique combination of learning styles, but he or she also has a predominant one such as visual learner, kinesthetic learner, etc. I try to figure out which style or styles the student responds to and use those styles to get through to the student. I also have the student explain the problem to me. Usually there is only one area where the student has gone astray in his or her thinking.
