I have been a middle and high school English teacher for over 7 years. My personal philosophy embraces ownership, one of the top ingredients for successful learning. Personal ownership creates a more perceptive learning process. Students will be more willing to maintain their learning as they proceed throughout the year. Another way ownership makes a big academic difference is through motivation. Ownership will also create self-confidence. A good teacher demonstrates faith in their ability to achieve simply by making them part of the process. When asking them ‘what do you think;’ their participation will increase and they will better remember the facts being taught.
