High School graduate, Robert E. Lee, Staunton,Va. 1971. Blue Ridge Community College, Weyers Cave, Va. 1 year Chemistry, on Merit list. Graduated from Staunton School of Cosmetology, Staunton, Va. 1980. Have had my own cosmetology business from then to the present. Southside Community College, massage therapy, included anatomy and physiology, 2013. Studied business and teaching, at VCU, 1971-72, did not complete degree program.
Relaxed, personal, but concentrate on learning, making progress at student's pace and level of achievement. I will try to make learning fun and interesting.

I have been teaching four years. I am a highly driven person and expect a lot of myself as well as my students. I earned a BA degree in English Literature, and a Master of Arts degree in English/Creative writing from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Curently,I teach grammar, language arts,and journalism at Warren County high school.I am skilled in many forms and genres of writing(research papers, essays, reports, prose, poetry, and theater) for two years I taught creative writing as writer in residence at InsideOut, one of the best high-school writing programs in the country, as well as VSA Arts, where I assisted students with disabilities with their grammar and composition.

After watching a documentary on teachers teaching in the inner city, I decided to switch my major from Pre-Law to Elementary Education. I've always loved learning and I wanted to be able to convey that same message to my students. In college, I majored in Elementary Education with a minor in Psy. of the Exceptional Child. This minor allowed me to study children who are gifted and children with special needs. I am currently working on a Masters in Special Education because I've learned an extensive amount of knowledge on this subject working for the Early Intervention program in my area.
I've always believed that children learn by doing.
