Each student requires a different approach to teaching. With this in mind, I prefer to sit one on one and work from the bottom up to try to figure out exactly where some of the issues may be. Once you better understand what it is the student isn't following, you must find a new approach to explaining the topic and reviewing it. I also believe the student must research answers on his or her own. The ability to memorize something is helpful, but it is more important to know how to find the answer or work through an answer. Often times students just memorize answers without understanding the buildup to the answer.

A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from Worcester State College in January of 2009. My major course of study was economics. Along with economics, I took a variety of courses, including physics, and multiple US History courses. Besides economics I would say that these two subjects, along with writing and english composition are my key strengths besides my major area of study. Currently I am an assistant high school football coach and I responsible for two specific positions within the team. Following my graduation from the University of Connecticut I pursued a career in the insurance industry but have also spent time working as a youth group leader and worked as a part-time tutor for several years. While living in Connecticut I tutored homebound high school age children who were either out on medical leave or expelled for disciplinary purposes. With younger children, I have used games, flash cards, and blocks to have them practice their math problems. I find this keeps a child energetic and enthusiastic.
