My love for teaching and working with children has allowed me to learn a variety of ways to help my students learn. Through the use of audio, visual and tactile manipulatives, my students have had some very exciting experiences and have succeeded in meeting the objectives set for them. I do believe in setting high expectations for each child and my experience has shown me that they rise to the occasion. I believe effective learning can occur in a 1-on-1 tutoring situation when the tutor and the student can communicate well. Tone, mood, and setting all come into play. A tutor who is relaxed, cheerful, encouraging, and resolutely intelligent is more likely to be approachable and someone the student will collaborate with successfully. I believe in active listening and working together to establish a method of studying.
I took high school and college seriously. After college I worked for several years before attending law school. After law school I decided to combine my legal experience with hands-on medical skills, and I enrolled in a Registered Nurse program at SUNY Delhi, which I will complete next May. A Little Bit About Me...

Tutoring is one of my best skills, its just something I do well. I’ve tutored k-12 for Amsterdam, Gloversville and Johnstown in almost any subject, I have a strong math background particularly in algebra. I’m a good writer and do some freelance writing online at times. I have some experience with computer applications such as Photoshop, MS Publisher and PowerPoint. My first career was as a Registered Professional Nurse (NYS licensure) for 25 years. During those years, I kept up my interest in various fields of math, such as Abstract Algebra, Differential equations, and topology. I was especially interested in algebraically-capable computer math programs.
