I have earned a BS degree in Zoology from the University of Wisconsin. I excelled in the biological sciences and in Spanish in college. I am also a proficient writer and editor. My teaching style has been a very hands-on approach in the past due to my experience with environmental education. As a tutor, I strive to offer my assistance in a way children can understand. I was a substitute teacher assistant for children with special needs ages 3-21, on and off for the past 6 years. I have 6 months of experience in outdoor education teaching various science classes and other outdoor, leadership and art classes/skills. I also tutored college undergrads in calculus and botany for a year in college.

I am passionate about teaching and learning, and I love all people. I am an advocate of task-based learning, multiple intelligences, and the all-around inductive/constructivist approach to learning. I am a firm believer in the idea that all people have the same innate capacity to learn, but that this is manifested in different ways. This is particularly important because I beleive a good teacher should be able to discover the individual and specific ways that a student relates or acquires information best (visually, aurally, kinesthetically etc.) and can then take that information and develop appropriate excercises and teaching materials to help maximize that student's learning experience.
