I had been a teacher for 12 years engaging in a multitude of learning styles and methodology. I spent 6 years serving as principal at all levels. I was Director of Education for two years and then served as Superintendent of Schools for two districts for a total of 15 years. During that time I never lost connection with teaching, mentoring students from all levels of education and continued to teach in the classroom at least once a week. I am a proponent of two things. First, encouragement. I always encourage the smallest success before I point out any failure. I never get frustrated or upset. I never get angry or disappointed. I know that encouragement breeds success, and success is the goal. Second, I speak to children as if they know what I mean. In other words, I never talk down to them. I almost feel as if I might treat kids more like adults than I treat adults.

I like to teach using examples, either on a board to show a person step by step first. Then try to give the student examples to try to solve themselves. If this does not work I continue to breakdown a problem until we can clearly identify where the student is having trouble.
I have helped tutor friends’ kids on math from little school to high school. I have taken math all the way up to Differential equations and feel alright tutoring up to calculus one. Completing a double major in Computer Science and Mathematics in less than four years took dedication and excellent study skills.
