As a graduate from a rigorous teacher training program at USF, I learned many skills and techniques to to teach students of all ability levels and ages. I had many opportunities throughout my college career to practice and experience teaching students from large groups to one-on-one settings. I was a recipient of the Michelin Scholarship Grant which allowed me to go to local Title 1 Middle Schools and tutor at-risk students. I find that teaching is as much about getting to know each person, finding there strengths and weaknesses and using those to benefit them in their process of understanding. I like to come up with creative approaches that will suit each individual's strengths for learning. I know that one on one attention, support and encouragement is a large component of what is missing in a lot of today's public school classrooms and love the opportunity that tutoring can provide to children who can learn just as well as anyone else, but may not be finding success in the classroom.
