Even before attaining my degree in English from Jacksonville State University I was passionate about all forms of teaching. I have over a year of experience tutoring college students at Jacksonville State University's Academic Center for Excellence and immediately following that nearly another year of experience tutoring dyslexic youths at the Dyslexia Clinic in Oxford, AL. I have experience tutoring biology, english, french, physcohology, and a variety of art and history classes.
Many children struggle with classroom learning because they require a different learning method than the one being offered or more direct attention than a teacher of 20+ students can offer. I try to put myself in the student's shoes and find which method of teaching can reach the student best. I try to identify the student's strengths and weaknesses and work out a program to help him or her achieve his or her goals. I also like to involve the parents or guardians as much as possible to keep them updated on the student's progress and how they can contribute to the learning process. From what I have observed as a substitute teacher at different schools, some teachers have a lot of subject knowledge but lack the teaching skills to get the most out of the students.

I received a bachelor’s degree from Jacksonville State University in Elementary Education. I graduated in May of 2006. That August I began a leave in fourth grade at Douglas Elementary School. I taught first grade last school season at Grassy Elementary school. The two years prior to teaching at Grassy I taught at Sloman Primary School, also in first Grade. While in the classroom I taught: Voyager Reading Program, small group and whole group instruction, incorporated new text into standard curriculum, taught ASTI Math and Science Lessons, assessed student performance throughout the term, Saxon Math Program, and conducted individual student conferences.
