My comments on tutoring Poetry : Whether free verse, or ABAB or ABBA, i am a poet Wiz. I Started out writing lyrics for my band, and that grew into free verse, discovering new metaphors and similes, for each given situation

A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked with teenagers, young adults and older students returning to college. I work especially well with students who have a lack of confidence about their academic or intellectual abilities. May students have told me years after taking my courses that they would not have made it to graduation without my help. I also served as a drama director at one of my colleges and produced 4 highly successful full-length plays. College Undergrad Looking to Tutor English Students

While I have never conducted a formal tutoring session, I have edited the work of my peers and more recently assisted my girlfriend's younger sister with the completion of her college essay. From my experience, I have found that I prefer to work one-on-one with the student whose work I am editing. That way, I am able to explain my revisions and help them understand my reasoning behind making certain edits. I'm not, by any means, a hard-nosed individual, but I'll certainly do my best to ensure that the student learns something.

I have helped students excel at college-level classes where some students were failing. I am part of the international honor society in psychology. I love helping other people. I have struggled with the areas I am not proficient in, so I understand what it is to be frustrated and confused. My teaching style is presenting various approaches to the same idea, in hopes that at least one will click, and better yet, each approach with solidify an idea or concept that much more.
Being an undergraduate at WPI and haven taken several Advanced Placement classes in areas outside of math and science, I consider myself a very well rounded student. I was also strongly considered for a MASH program here at the University, or "Math and Science Help", as a Section Leader/Tutor. Going through a lower-middle class urban high school, I was known as that "smart kid" and would often led study groups outside of class to prepare for tests.
