Every student, no matter race, religion, gender, age, social status, political leanings, or sexual preference, deserves equality in education. No conduct jeopardizing equality will be tolerated in a didactic or practicum setting. A successful classroom depends on the success of three relationships: the instructor must respect the student, the student must respect the instructor, and students must respect one another. Failure concerning any of these relationships results in failure in the classroom. The importance of the idea of primacy learning will be upheld in every teaching scenario. Students that are learning a new skill must be taught correctly the first time, as primacy in teaching is paramount to the student’s success. Student must know and clearly understand what is expected of them in a course for confidence and rapport to be attained in their relationship to the instructor. In ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

For the past two years, I have been teaching journal-writing and college classes at the Louisville Comprehensive Care MS Center. Prior to that, I have tutored students ages 7-40 in a various set of topics, primarily math and business subjects.
My preferred style of teaching is student-lead. I believe in the Socratic method, but appreciate following a curriculum, as well. I volunteer at a Montessori school and I know that getting learners of all ages interested and excited about a topic is the key to retention.

I believe that all children can be successful academically with the right encouragement and guidance. I believe in showing students the correct way to do the task at hand, and them coaching to explore the materials themselves. I believe that given the right tools and foundation even a academically unsuccessful student can excel.
During the pursuit of my degrees I worked tirelessly to excel. While in school I volunteered as a tutor for the local Boys and Girls Club. I tutored middle school and high school students in literature, math, science and history. Due to my degree in Library Science I have extensive knowledge in writing term papers and research methods.

As a first generation immigrant, I have sharply experienced just how important proper communication skills are. Language, spoken and written are one of the most important parts of building those skills for young people, for success in both carreer and social life. I strongly believe that my own experience with constant learning and improving my language abilities helps me in better understanding of the learning process of others. Multiple personality assesments as well as my self-evaluation state me as a leader type indiavidual, competitive, influential, however also supportive and attentive as well. As a non paid experience I have been the helping hand for my friends struggling with their paper, proof reading and restructuring their writting during both highschool and college. As a college freshman I held a tutoring position with Academic Success Center at the University of Indiana ... read more

My goal with your child is not merely to transfer information but to cultivate a love for learning and a passion for excellence. I enjoy thinking through creative ways to teach ordinary subjects that can help a student enjoy the learning process. Knowing that each student is unique, I seek to explain concepts in a variety of ways until it “clicks” for each person. I also believe that practice is the mother of learning, whether on the basketball court or in the classroom. I would want your student to practice the needed skill until he/she is confident with it. I know from experience the profound influence that a teacher can have on a student both as a role model and academically. I hope to provide both of these for your child.
Graduating from Northwestern University, I know what it takes to succeed in the classroom. I received two degrees in math and economics, giving me a strong fo ... read more

Great Question. I have been in classes where I found learning a challenge. This is what makes me unique as a teacher. I build a relationship with the student. I do my best to not only explain the material, but how they can possibly use it in the future. I also have the best patience. I will go over something over and over again, searching in my own mind for a different to present the material so it sticks.
I have always been a good teacher. I scored very well on the SAT exams, and I have extensive tutoring experience. I scored in the upper 10 percentile on the Mathmatics portion of the SATs. I also have been studying non stop for the CPA exam. I would love to pass on knowledge to someone else. Tutoring is rewarding.

I believe in developing a holistic attitude towards each child and catering an individualized program based on their unique needs. Some children may truly only need help grasping a certain concept, but another may need help with homework, test anxiety or poor study habits. I have developed a variety of ways to help any child recognize their potential through a combination of strengthening their academic abilities while simultaneously improving their habits and attitude toward school work. I am also a strong believer in learning through a combination of interaction and traditional resource methods.
I have work with children in a non-profit/education/recreation capacity for nearly 10 years. Most recently I acted as an education director for a franchise tutoring company and spent a portion of everyday working directly with the students and meeting with parents to discuss their progres ... read more

With experience and training in psychology and evaluation, I bring a unique approach to working with each child as an individual, quickly assessing learning style, making the most of strengths while coaxing the gradual improvement of what is more challenging. One thing I've learned is that all of us love doing what we are good at and success breeds more success so working with that success, tapping into your child's perception of self as learning, productive, and accomplishing whatever goals they set for themselves. Success breeds success and a good teacher creates an environment that begins at a nexus of challenge sufficient to excite and entertain while also possible. I believe that positive reinforcement is effective and discouragement can be avoided.
My experiences are extensive both academically and in real world applications which serve to bring what students learn and study ... read more
