A Little Bit About Me...

I have always loved school and learning and try to learn new things every day. After I graduated from high school I regretted the fact that I hadn't done better in math. I promised myself that someday I would go back to school and learn these skills; I accomplished this in 2005. I was very active in my children's classrooms as a parent volunteer/tutor(1:1 and group tutor- all subjects)- huge success. I obtained a BA in elementary ed with a middle school endorsement and searching for creative ways to utilize my teaching skills. A Little Bit About Me...

I have volunteered for both summer camps (at local science museum) and at vacation bible school programs. I worked at a daycare for 2 years working with a 2 year old class, then worked as a preschool teacher for another year and a half. I have also worked as a Latin tutor, both for a semester as a teaching assistant to a high school class, and periodically with individual students while in college. Currently I am working on helping develop a summer science camp course at a local museum.
I feel like it is important to connect to students on a personal level yet still retain a professional attitude. I prefer one on one settings for teaching, but I have no problem standing in front of people. I use my work experience to apply what the student has learned in the classroom and instruct them how the subject is applied in today's work force. I am able to give instructions and address feedback when applicable. Although I have not taught in a formal classroom, I have held numerous professional meetings in the past for previous employers.
