I believe that each child has their own special style of learning in which they succeed the best at. When I tutor students I take the time to get to know each student on an individual basis and as a unique person. I make it a priority to determine their learning style and use that to implement a plan. I try and understand the reason they are having problems in their studies and then execute a plan in which they can succeed. I create study guides, review questions, and sample test questions for the students as well. In addition, a tutor can be a positive role model in student's lives and serve as a mentor and can be a person who the students can count on to answer questions.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am in the Education field to make a difference in student’s lives. I hope to do this through instruction and example. I believe these two elements intertwined and essential for any educator. I am value the “Teacher as facilitator” education model. Today, I classify my teaching style as a constructivist theory with humanist elements. I believe that a combination of these three models will ensure the greatest amount of learning for students as I prepare them for further education. In my experience, working with at-risk, failing, or youth in general requires a level of acceptance from the student. Educators cannot reach that level if they talk down to their students. While working on my Bachelors, I volunteered in eight schools working one on one with students, small groups, and classroom settings for language arts. I also student taught junior high language arts. I received numerous teacher of the week recognition when I taught after school art classes. Since graduation, I have been a substitute for all grade levels and subject matter.
