I love children and I love teaching children. I teach using a variety of methods. I have learned that children have different ways of learning. Some children are visual learners so I used plenty of visual aids when teaching these children. Some children are kinetic learners so I made sure that I used manipulatives when teaching these children. I believe that all children have a "best way" to learn. I determine what that way is, and then I taylor the way I teach to that way. I love seeing a child light up when they "get it". I love learning and I want to pass that love on to others.
As a parent concerned about the condition of the public school system we decided to homeschool our last two children. I am a professional with a B.S. degree and with 18 years experience in the health science field. I also have extensive experience in various areas of business. In addition, I am proficient in many different computer programs, which has allowed me to train and mentor people in use of various computer software. In the past year I have direct experience leading classes and teaching students. I am comfortable writing reports and essays and have excellent knowledge of English and grammar.

I tailor my teaching style to the student. I first evaluate where the student is by building rapport, discussing the problem he/she is having, talking to the teacher, and talking to the parents. I then begin focusing on the area where the student is having difficulties. It may be that the student requires help with homework as well as review of fundamentals. I experimented with Political Science for two years, in which I took classes in criminology, speech, and history. My next year of college was spent in English and Writing, where I focused on the obvious, as well as classes in psychology. The last few years of my college experience, where I ended up graduating with a Bachelor’s in Finance, were based around all of the science and math classes that Ohio Dominican University had to offer.
