Drawing is one of my top subjects! I have a Masters of Art Education from The Ohio State University. I have taught Elementary visual arts for over 33 years, I am proficient and able to teach painting, drawing, print making, relief sculpture, weaving, and other fine arts children would enjoy. I also would incorporate art history and introduce artists who are relevant to the concept being taught.

I am a retired Art Teacher, with a current Ohio Teaching license and 33 years experience teaching Elementary Visual Arts. I am interested in teaching art to students in a smaller setting and provide more individual training and art experiences. I love children and love children’s art, and feel some children best express themselves through the arts.
The arts teach children to make judgments about their environment without a right or wrong answer, and that there are many ways to look and solve a problems. Art is a way for children to express themselves without words in the literal form or numbers as only measured on standardized tests. Meaning the limit of our language does not limit a child’s cognition. I believe the arts teach children to observe and solve problems from many perspectives. Art enables us to have experiences that no other source does. It should be relaxing, hands on, ... read more

I love helping children learn new things. I get so excited when I see the "light bulb" go off. I love to find different ways to teach children to learn old things. I am a very patient and happy person by nature. Consistency is what works with children. I am very consistent and like to see children succeed. Educators can change the world through one child at a time.
I graduated from one of the top ranked schools in the nation for education, Miami University (Ohio). I earned my bachelor's degree there. I have been teaching children that have learning disabilities for ten years. I also have worked with children that have severe emotional problems. I will be graduating from Grand Canyon University in December with my master's degree in special education. For the past few years I have been tutoring an eighth grader in grammar and poetry.

When I first attended Wilmington College, I was in early childhood education. I completed a whole semester of student teaching and volunteered for tutoring after school. I finally had decided that teaching was not for me because I wanted more of an office setting job so i decided to major in business management. I have decided that I want to pursue in subsitute teaching so that I am able to help children and spend more time with my newborn.
Nothing is better than seeing a huge smile on a child's face once they cath on to something. I love helping children learn by doing a lot of visual activities and practicing! I was always the only person who could help my younger sister study for tests because she said my teaching techinique is very helpful and makes her remember things. It always made me feel good knowing i was the only one who could help her study!

My teaching style is laid back and comfortable. I like to use flash cards, fun games, and rhyming teachniques. I think children have to like their teacher to do well. Many of my former students have kept in contact with me over the years.. being invited to their graduations, weddings and other parties. I made a very good impression on them...as most often teachers can be forgotten as the years go by. I try to make learning fun and I like to incorporate color and coloring to work sheets and assignments. I am very creative.

A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy teaching and working with students of all ages. I believe that all students have the ability to create master pieces in art if they put forth the time and effort and have the right encouragement. I have seen too many times that students may feel that they can't draw or that they aren't creative. I try to encourage students that art is a process and they will grow with practice and time, just as in any academic area. I show students that progress is always aparent in the evolution of artwork.
As a fine artist and educator, I have many years experience teaching students in a variety of settings and with varying age groups. I am an educator of over 15 years. My area of expertise is English/Language Arts and my primary audience over much of my teaching career has been average to advanced students in grades 7-12. I have, however, successfully taught elementary school students and members of the "at-risk" population. In addition to being a classroom teacher, I have served as a Lead teacher, Acting Principal, teacher mentor, resource teacher, workshop facilitator and more. As an added, I am a fiction novelist who has penned five books. I am also the owner and operator of an independently run publishing company.
I am a teacher who believes that children are only limited by their mindset. If it is truly a child's desire to learn, he will. Children choose to fail. My job as an educator is to make it difficult for a child to choose to fail. My lessons are typically innovative and evoke intrinsic motiv ... read more
